About the opportunity

The Shropshire Seaweed Company is growing quickly, and we are looking for a highly creative Junior Media Producer to join our team.

This is not a role where you will simply be asked to create repetitive social media posts. We are looking for someone who wants to create original, entertaining and meaningful content that helps shape the identity of a growing business and contributes to the future of sustainable gardening, agriculture and environmental innovation.

You will have the opportunity to leave your mark on the business. You will help us develop new content formats, tell compelling stories, create a distinctive social media presence and show people what happens behind the products, people and ideas that make The Shropshire Seaweed Company different.

The role will be busy, varied and highly hands-on. One day you could be filming a product demonstration; the next you could be interviewing a grower, creating a short documentary, recording a podcast, visiting a garden centre or capturing the development of a new product.

What you could be working on:

Your work may include:

  • Creating short-form video content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and other platforms
  • Developing longer-form YouTube, vlog and documentary-style content
  • Helping create and produce podcast episodes and filmed conversations
  • Filming interviews with customers, growers, gardeners, experts, partners and members of our team
  • Creating product videos that are informative, engaging and visually distinctive
  • Capturing behind-the-scenes content from our office, production facility, trials, events and projects
  • Developing creative campaigns around gardening, soil health, sustainability and the environment
  • Creating content around new products, product development and real-world results
  • Planning, filming, editing and publishing content across multiple platforms
  • Supporting photography, social media graphics, thumbnails, captions and content planning
  • Helping us discover new ways to communicate with our audience
  • Travelling to gardens, events, businesses, filming locations and partner sites when required

The type of person we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who is naturally curious, creative and driven. You may already have experience in content creation, filmmaking, photography or social media, but formal experience is not essential.

What matters most is that you:

  • Have a strong creative instinct and plenty of ideas
  • Enjoy making things and bringing ideas to life
  • Are confident experimenting with different styles and formats
  • Have a good eye for visuals, composition and storytelling
  • Understand what makes people stop scrolling and pay attention
  • Are comfortable speaking to people and conducting interviews
  • Can work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Are willing to get involved in every stage of production
  • Have a positive, energetic and can-do attitude
  • Are organised enough to manage multiple content projects
  • Want to grow with a business and help shape its future
  • Are not afraid to try something different

You do not need to be an expert gardener. You do not need to have years of industry experience. We are more interested in your creativity, attitude, ambition and ability to communicate ideas than in a long list of qualifications.

Skills that would be useful:

Experience with some of the following would be beneficial:

  • Shooting video using cameras, phones or other equipment
  • Video editing software
  • Photography and lighting
  • Audio recording and podcast production
  • Creating content for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
  • Writing captions, scripts or interview questions
  • Planning content calendars
  • Creating thumbnails or simple social graphics
  • Using creative tools such as Canva

However, we are open to people who have developed their skills independently through personal projects, social media accounts, college, university, freelance work or simply by creating content they are proud of.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to join a growing company at an exciting stage of its development.

You will have:

  • The chance to shape our entire content direction
  • Freedom to bring forward your own ideas
  • A varied role with very little time spent doing the same thing twice
  • Opportunities to work on documentaries, interviews, podcasts, product launches and campaigns
  • The chance to work directly with the leadership team
  • A platform to develop your skills across filming, editing, storytelling and marketing
  • Opportunities to attend events and visit interesting locations
  • The opportunity to build a recognisable creative identity for an ambitious British brand
  • Room to grow as the company and marketing team expand

We want to find someone who does not simply want to complete a job description. We want someone who wants to help create something that people remember.

The interview process

As part of the application process, shortlisted candidates will be asked to create a small piece of content for The Shropshire Seaweed Company.

This may involve developing a short video concept, filming a simple piece of content or presenting ideas for how you would tell one of our stories.

We are not expecting expensive equipment or highly polished commercial work. We want to see how you think, how you approach a brief, how creative you are and how effectively you can communicate an idea.

Your submission could be created using a smartphone.

How to apply:

Please send us:

  • Your CV
  • A short introduction explaining why this role interests you
  • Examples of any content, videos, photography, campaigns or creative projects you have made
  • Links to any relevant social media accounts, portfolio or personal projects

If you do not have formal work experience, please do not let that put you off. Tell us what you have created, what inspires you and what you would like to make if given the opportunity.

To apply, please send your details to stewart.black@sea-chem.co.uk
