Salary: £25k to £40k (Depending on experience)

At The Shropshire Seaweed Company, we believe in growing gardens naturally. We produce and sell organic gardening products that help people create vibrant, chemical-free gardens that are better for people, pollinators, and the planet.
We’re a small, independent business built on sustainability, community, and a deep love for the soil. As we grow, we’re looking for a hands-on Marketing Manager who’s not just great at digital marketing, but who genuinely loves gardening and wants to help others discover the joy of growing organically.

The Role
This is a creative, practical, and full-spectrum marketing role. You’ll lead and do, taking ownership of brand development and growth across social media, content, SEO, email, PR and more. You’ll be our storyteller, strategist, and community builder, all rolled into one.
We’re looking for someone who’s as comfortable digging into Google Analytics as they are writing blog posts, sending influencer DMs, or dreaming up a social or PR-worthy campaign.

Key Responsibilities
1. Social Media & Community Building
- Develop and execute growth strategies for Instagram and Facebook, with a focus on storytelling, education, and engagement.
- Create content that reflects the gardening lifestyle – from tips and tricks to product demos, seasonal advice, and customer stories.
- Manage a consistent posting schedule and respond to community interactions.
- Run paid social campaigns for product launches and key growth periods.
2. Content Creation & Blogging
- Plan and write blog posts on organic gardening, sustainable world events, sustainability benefits, DIY tips, and seasonal inspiration.
- Maintain a content calendar aligned with key gardening events & seasons, product focus, and SEO goals.
- Repurpose blog content into emails, social media, and other formats.
3. Influencer & Creator Partnerships
- Identify and build relationships with gardeners, allotmenteers, eco-content creators, and micro-influencers.
- Coordinate collaborations, product seeding, and user-generated content campaigns.
- Track effectiveness and grow a network of authentic brand advocates.
4. SEO & Website Growth
- Optimise all website and blog content for search engine visibility.
- Conduct keyword research and apply findings to improve page rankings.
- Monitor site traffic and make content and structural recommendations.
5. Email Marketing
- Create engaging email campaigns (seasonal newsletters, tips, launches, product promotions).
- Segment audiences and improve open/click rates with personalised content.
- Grow our subscriber base through value-led opt-ins and customer engagement.
6. PR & Brand Awareness
- Develop a small but impactful PR strategy to raise awareness of The Shropshire Seaweed Company.
- Build relationships with relevant gardening journalists, bloggers, and media outlets.
- Create and distribute press releases, story pitches, and feature ideas tied to seasonal campaigns, launches, and sustainability stories.
- Look for award opportunities and brand-building partnerships aligned with our mission.
7. Analytics & Reporting
- Track performance across channels (social, blog, email, website).
- Use insights to refine strategy and content focus.
- Report regularly on growth, interactions and opportunities.

About You
- You’re a gardener at heart – whether it’s pots on a patio, a full allotment, or a wildflower strip, you just get it.
- You’re hands-on, proactive, and enjoy managing all aspects of marketing – from strategy to daily posting.
- You’re an excellent communicator, with a creative eye and a love for storytelling.
- You want to work with a brand that stands for something and reflects your values.

Skills & Experience
1. 2+ years in a digital marketing or content role (freelance, agency, or brand side).
2. Confident across Instagram and Facebook (organic and paid).
3. Strong writing skills – especially for blogs, social captions, and email newsletters.
4. Experience with influencer outreach or PR (even small-scale) is a bonus.
5. Working knowledge of SEO, basic design tools of your choosing, and Shopify.
6. Bonus: Previous experience in gardening, sustainability, eco-products, or lifestyle brands.
