As we witnessed the growing impact of global warming and ecological destruction, The Shropshire Seaweed Company made a commitment to do business differently. We realised that by doing the right thing while sustaining our business, we could inspire our customers, influence other companies, and perhaps even help change the system for the better.
We began our journey with our Organic Seaweed Growth Enhancer, crafted from the finest seaweed harvested along the pristine shores of Ireland’s West Coast. This exceptional product earned its certification as Organic from the Soil Association and more recently, from OF&G, further proof of our commitment to sustainable excellence.
While we’re doing our best to address the environmental impact that cheap synthetic products have on our fields, allotments and gardens, it’s not enough. We need to find a way to put more money into fighting this issue while keeping the company’s values intact.
The Earth, while vast and awe-inspiring, has finite resources, and we’ve pushed them to their limits. Yet, amidst the challenges, there’s hope. Our planet is resilient and capable of recovery if we act with purpose. By making conscious choices and committing to sustainable practices, we can restore balance and ensure a thriving world for generations to come. The power to save our planet lies in our collective hands.
I have now passed the baton of leadership to a younger, dynamic team who share the same unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. This talented group has been entrusted with the mission to build upon our legacy, exploring innovative solutions and adopting transformative practices that will propel the company to new heights.
I have challenged them to raise the bar further, setting ambitious benchmarks for environmental responsibility, fostering a circular economy, and championing renewable initiatives. With their passion for sustainable growth and dedication to a greener future, I am confident this new team will continue to drive meaningful change, not only within our business but also as a beacon for the industry and beyond.
For nearly 20 years, we’ve been on a journey to redefine what responsible business can look like, and we’re just getting started. If we want a thriving planet, let alone a thriving business 20 years from now, it will require each of us to do our part with the resources we have.
