About Us
We’re a small team growing something we genuinely believe in. The Shropshire Seaweed Company produces organic and sustainable products for gardeners who care about what goes into their soil, and why. Our work sits at the intersection of sustainable agriculture, ecology, and the quiet satisfaction of growing things well.
We’re a small team with big ambitions. We move quickly, think carefully, and believe that good content that is honest, grounded, visually compelling, is one of the most important things we can do to spread the word on slow gardening, organic growing and soil health right now.

The Role
We’re looking for a content creator to join us two days a week, someone who can take a brief and turn it into content that feels real. Not polished-within-an-inch-of-its-life, but authentic, thoughtful, and genuinely engaging.
You’ll be creating photo and video content primarily for Instagram and Facebook, with the longer-term ambition of expanding into TikTok and YouTube. The style we’re after is UGC, content that feels like it came from someone who actually uses and believes in the product. That’s why we’re looking for someone with a keen interest in gardening, as we want you to actually use and believe in the products just as much as we do.
Most of the time you’ll be working from briefs set by our Head of Marketing, but we’re not looking for someone who just executes instructions. We want to hear your ideas. There’s room here to bring your own creative perspective and help shape where we go.
The role is split roughly equally between time on location (at our base in Shropshire) and working remotely, editing, planning, and developing ideas from wherever suits you.

What You’ll Do
Shoot and edit photo and video content to briefs provided by our Head of Marketing
Create UGC-style content for Instagram and Facebook that feels natural and trustworthy and native to the platform
Bring your own creative ideas to the table and contribute to our content strategy
Capture the reality of what we do - the soil, the plants, the process, the people
Edit your own footage and prepare it for publication across social platforms
Collaborate closely with the team, we’re small, so everyone’s voice matters

What We’re Looking For
We’re open to applications from people at all stages of their career. What matters to us is the quality of your work and how you think about storytelling. That said, there are a few things that are non-negotiable:
A genuine connection with the natural world: gardening, growing, the outdoors. You don’t need to be an expert, but you need to care.
Confident video editing skills to be able to tell stories through social
A strong creative eye and an instinct for what makes content stop the scroll
An understanding of how short-form video and social content works, particularly on Instagram
The ability to work from a brief while still bringing something of yourself to it
Self-motivation and the ability to work independently when not on-site
Based in Shropshire or the wider Midlands, you’ll need to get to us regularly
It would be a bonus if you have experience with TikTok or YouTube, or if you’ve created content for a brand before, but neither is essential.

What We Offer
Salary TBD (open to discussion depending on experience) — available as freelance arrangement
Two days per week, split roughly 50/50 between on-site in Shropshire and working remotely
Most of your content will be filmed on an iPhone, we can provide other equipment needed such as tripods, seeds, compost etc.
A real say in the creative direction, we actively want your ideas
A close-knit, collaborative team that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously
Room to grow, if this role goes well, there’s flexibility to build on it
